Twitter launched Fleets as its take on Stories, a space for sharing photos, videos and text that disappeared after 24 hours. The feature included a sticker tray where people could browse Twitter-made stickers and Twemoji, or search for GIFs to add another layer of expression to whatever they were sharing.
I worked with Twitter on its custom sticker collection, creating a set built around 12 messages, each designed in two completely different visual directions. Mixing lettering and illustration, the idea was to keep the words the same while changing everything around them, from composition and style to the overall personality of each sticker. The result was 24 ways to react, add context or bring a little more character into a Fleet.
Fleets eventually disappeared. Twitter eventually did too.
